page 146 of 540 of A Family Chronicle

I can’t turn the pages of this book fast enough!

I don’t care how factual the events in the book are, it’s so well written and so interesting that it doesn’t matter if Aksakov embellished everything.

The marriage of Praskovia to the cruel Michail is masterfully told as only a great novelist would tell it – suspense, mistrust, action. We also learn a lot about life on these distant estates and about the serfs.
