I love the image of the baby skylarks in their mouth. This is the first real magical image but it’s preceeded by Serafim sleeping in the pig’s hay as if it still had warmth like the comforter he believed still had the body heat of his ex wife.

Tudor, the only smart one, thinks working hard is the only solution and of course nobody listens to him.
