“Sane people did what their neighbors did, so that if any lunatics were at large, one might know and avoid them.” Times have not changed at all, we do what everyone else is doing because we think it’s “normal”.

I suppose both Dorothea and Celia are both young (they haven’t been in society yet), but Dorothea seems to reject the life expected of her. Her religious convictions go against society’s idea of opinions.
